Reputation as a strategic asset: case of Lee and Singer

In the eyes of public, one man is not likely to be seen as respectable. So there's only few widely respected ones around. We all think differently, just at varying degrees; individual difference works as a key source of disappointments at one another, not to mention the possibilities of some undeniably flawed characteristics such as vileness. Not likely, but even if you manage to be pristine, there are all sorts of dirty politics and manipulations that can work against you. Performance could earn one some respect, but respect deserved due to integrity seems to work better. This is utterly head-aching and troublesome, because one needs to first survive to thrive.

Despite the trouble, good reputation is worth building.

Only if it were Buffet, the result might have been different? ...... Or not. Still, with a great reputation, you can better damage the opposition, at least. Also, it could have a deterrence effect. Very disappointing, in any case.

Maybe the essence of good reputation is non-confrontation policy. But then one use of it is lost that way.

In any case, it helps to smile.
